  16.                         ALLIANCE COUNTERSTRIKE
  17.  
  18.                       The Alliance continues to 
  19.                     thwart Emperor Palpatine and 
  20.                     gain substantial allies in the 
  21.                     inner systems. The Empire's 
  22.                     rule on the galaxy begins to 
  23.                     weaken as more systems revolt 
  24.                     against the Emperor's tyranny.
  25.  
  26.                       Desperate to gain control
  27.                     of the galaxy again, the
  28.                     Emperor assigns his best
  29.                     military leader, Lord Darth
  30.                     Vader, to find the Rebel's
  31.                     numerous outposts and crush
  32.                     them, sending fear through
  33.                     the Alliance's confederates.
  34.  
  35.                       But as of yet, most of the
  36.                     Rebel bases remain a secret
  37.                     from the Empire, despite Lord
  38.                     Vader's patrolling the galaxy 
  39.                     for any sign of the Alliance's
  40.                     secret legions....

  55. ALLIANCE COUNTERSTRIKE v. 1.0 =====================================
  56.      These are twelve missions I've designed for Lucasarts'
  57. commercial game X-Wing. They were designed on Henry Chang's X-Wing
  58. Design Kit, which is great for when you get tired of missions where
  59. all you do is take on wave after wave of TIEs.
  60.  
  61.      I should say right off that these missions are REALLY easy.
  62. Long time X-Wing veterans will zip right through these. No one
  63. fires a missle at you, and enemy fighter pilots are rated no higher
  64. than "Ace". These are perfect for the first time flight-sim user.
  65.  
  66.      If you have any comments on how great my missions are,
  67. complaints that they weren't worth the ten-minute downloading time,
  68. or have a suggestion on how to make my missions better, write to me
  69. on America Online at ELLEN256A. (It's my Mom's ID) I'm also hunting
  70. for a mission design kit that supports the new TOD, so I can design
  71. mission 1-12 to be flown with four B-Wings, instead of three X-
  72. Wings and three Y-Wings. Please tell me if you've seen one, or
  73. preferrably send me a copy!

  75.      You can distribute these missions to other people and BBS's,
  76. (PLEASE distribute them to other people and BBS's!) just so long as
  77. you be sure to leave the author's name, KENNETH ARMSTRONG, on and
  78. don't charge money for them.

  80. One final big thanks to the playtesters, BEN MABBOTT and MICHEAL
  81. FRYE. (Look for Frye's missions on the AOL Board!) They helped me
  82. out by playing these missions while my joystick was acting up.

  85. INSTALLING THE MISSIONS -------------------------------------------
  86.      I assume you've already run CNTRSTRK.EXE, which is a self-
  87. extracting program. Included are:
  88.      CNTRSTRK.TXT        -What you're reading
  89.      CNTRSTRK.BAT        -The install program
  90.      MISSIONS.EXE        -Another self-extracting program with
  91.                           the mission files. DON'T RUN THIS!!!
  92.      These files should be in your \XWING directory. If not, move
  93. them there or else the install program won't work. The install
  94. program also won't work if X-Wing is installed to a subdirectory,
  95. like \GAMES\XWING. If you have this problem, write to me and I'll
  96. send you a fixed batch file.
  97.      Once they are there, type CNTRSTRK to bring up a help screen
  98. on how to run the install program. It should tell that you can
  99. install to original TOD's 1-3, or the X-Wing and Y-Wing historical
  100. missions, in which case TOD 1-1 through 1-6 replace the X-Wing
  101. historical missions, and 1-7 through 1-12 replace the Y-Wing
  102. historical missions. This is an easy way to earn a couple flight
  103. badges if you're new.
  104.      The backup program, as mentioned, creates a new subdirectory
  105. titled \XWING\OLDMISSN. It will then back up all the missions you
  106. plan to overwrite. To copy them back, just go to \XWING\MISSION and
  107. type COPY \XWING\OLDMISSN\*.*
