TOUR OF DUTY C
ALLIANCE COUNTERSTRIKE
The Alliance continues to
thwart Emperor Palpatine and
gain substantial allies in the
inner systems. The Empire's
rule on the galaxy begins to
weaken as more systems revolt
against the Emperor's tyranny.
Desperate to gain control
of the galaxy again, the
Emperor assigns his best
military leader, Lord Darth
Vader, to find the Rebel's
numerous outposts and crush
them, sending fear through
the Alliance's confederates.
But as of yet, most of the
Rebel bases remain a secret
from the Empire, despite Lord
Vader's patrolling the galaxy
for any sign of the Alliance's
secret legions....
ALLIANCE COUNTERSTRIKE v. 1.0 =====================================
These are twelve missions I've designed for Lucasarts'
commercial game X-Wing. They were designed on Henry Chang's X-Wing
Design Kit, which is great for when you get tired of missions where
all you do is take on wave after wave of TIEs.
I should say right off that these missions are REALLY easy.
Long time X-Wing veterans will zip right through these. No one
fires a missle at you, and enemy fighter pilots are rated no higher
than "Ace". These are perfect for the first time flight-sim user.
If you have any comments on how great my missions are,
complaints that they weren't worth the ten-minute downloading time,
or have a suggestion on how to make my missions better, write to me
on America Online at ELLEN256A. (It's my Mom's ID) I'm also hunting
for a mission design kit that supports the new TOD, so I can design
mission 1-12 to be flown with four B-Wings, instead of three X-
Wings and three Y-Wings. Please tell me if you've seen one, or
preferrably send me a copy!
You can distribute these missions to other people and BBS's,
(PLEASE distribute them to other people and BBS's!) just so long as
you be sure to leave the author's name, KENNETH ARMSTRONG, on and
don't charge money for them.
One final big thanks to the playtesters, BEN MABBOTT and MICHEAL
FRYE. (Look for Frye's missions on the AOL Board!) They helped me
out by playing these missions while my joystick was acting up.
Thanks again!
INSTALLING THE MISSIONS -------------------------------------------
I assume you've already run CNTRSTRK.EXE, which is a self-
extracting program. Included are:
CNTRSTRK.TXT -What you're reading
CNTRSTRK.BAT -The install program
MISSIONS.EXE -Another self-extracting program with
the mission files. DON'T RUN THIS!!!
These files should be in your \XWING directory. If not, move
them there or else the install program won't work. The install
program also won't work if X-Wing is installed to a subdirectory,
like \GAMES\XWING. If you have this problem, write to me and I'll
send you a fixed batch file.
Once they are there, type CNTRSTRK to bring up a help screen
on how to run the install program. It should tell that you can
install to original TOD's 1-3, or the X-Wing and Y-Wing historical
missions, in which case TOD 1-1 through 1-6 replace the X-Wing
historical missions, and 1-7 through 1-12 replace the Y-Wing
historical missions. This is an easy way to earn a couple flight
badges if you're new.
The backup program, as mentioned, creates a new subdirectory
titled \XWING\OLDMISSN. It will then back up all the missions you
plan to overwrite. To copy them back, just go to \XWING\MISSION and
type COPY \XWING\OLDMISSN\*.*
